I had written and recorded “The least I can do” as an acoustic ballad but it took the talents and anointing of my friend Daryl Gravit to build some power into it with a full band, so there are two versions of this song. This is one of the songs from the album “The Distance” that was recorded in Daryl’s home studio in 1999 and was a collaboration of writing and singing from both of us. I still have the original master of that project and can easily make CD copies. I played the guitar and sang lead vocals and Daryl played all the other instruments and was the engineer on all the mixing and mastering.
I’ve pulled this particular song from the original group of songs with Daryl and myself and have included as a title cut along with some other acoustic selections using a simple digital studio set-up in our house. This Cd has 12 original songs. I did not worry about making the recordings technically perfect (because I could not anyway) but rather to relay the music as I was feeling it and wanting to capture the anointing. I have a book of songs that have never been recorded and many that need to be re-recorded. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to release them soon. I would love to hear what the Psalms sounded like when David and the other Psalmist played them. The least I can do, is a cry to the Lord of surrender. It has everything to do with laying down our will and taking up our cross. How many understand this is the theme of being born again and the spiritual reality of Christianity. “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” Matthew 7:13-14.
THE LEAST I CAN DO
PSALM 117
I WILL GO FOR YOU
GOD HEARS THE CRIES OF THE UNBORN
Here is a song the Lord gave me back in the 1980s called, “SAVE THE CHILDREN” and it is included on this CD. Abortion along with child abuse, molesting, pedophilia, and human trafficking is debauchery and an abomination within the human race. To put an end to this destruction is a subject should be at the center of every decent human being as we know that children are precious to God and the future of the world. There are situations and exceptions where the mother’s life is in danger or some other medical circumstance, but there is no excuse to kill a human being and throw them in the garbage simply because they are NOT wanted. Praise God, the Lord’s mercy endures forever and there is forgiveness for those who have made this tragic mistake. Of course He will forgive us of anything we have done if we will only sincerely ask Him. However, once our eyes are opened to God’s truth there remains no excuse to justify or support this evil spirit of death. If a woman does not want the child, the humane decision would be to have the baby and give it to someone who desperately wants it. Proverbs 6:16-19 says, “There are six things the Lord hates; yea, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” We know God loves the children and yet somehow people believe that killing them is alright.
SAVE THE CHILDREN
The lack of responsibility and integrity from an adult is not the unborn child’s fault, and yet they are the ones who suffer and are put to death. If someone were to place a litter of newborn puppies in a bag and throw them in a river, there would be mass outrage, and yet we have protesters in the streets demanding the right to kill a child. If someone would grab a butcher knife and stab someone in the heart, it would be called first degree murder. Why is the intentional killing of an unborn child NOT recognized as murder? The argument that the unborn is not alive or is not a person cannot be used any longer. God has called His people to speak the truth and those who are willing to compromise and even vote to support this issue are just as guilty as those who are tearing the children’s arms and legs off as they cry out in agony. Many will respond, “I’m not saying it’s right, but every woman has the right to choose what happens in their own body and no one should have the authority to tell other people what to do.” It’s true we have been given free will to do what WE want to do, but NO ONE has been given the right to kill another person. When a pregnant woman is murdered, is not the killer charged with two counts of murder? Just because humans make laws which allow women to kill their children, does not mean that God approves. Are we going to agree this is her business and we should not speak out and try to stop her from ending the life of an innocent child? The Lord of all creation gives life at conception and has a wonderful plan for that person. God’s truth cannot be silenced. God help us.
