We are grateful to be involved in several areas of ministry and one of the directions the Lord is currently anointing and blessing is the weekly newspaper faith column. “LIVING ON PURPOSE” has been somewhat of a surprise and has already exceeded my expectations. After being singer/songwriter since 1982 and writing a weekly blog for the past 13 years, I branched out in January 2016 with talking with my local newspaper editor and the rest is history. As of December 2020, I’m sending the column out to over 200 newspapers all around the country. The potential readership is approximately 2.5 million, but it’s difficult to tell just how many publications take the column from Press Associations that offer content to hundreds of newspapers. I see the column all the time being published in papers I’ve never heard of. This is also not including internet news source apps that are picking up the column from these publications and using it. “NewsBreak” for example has 20 million views per month. It’s exciting to imagine how many hearts God can touch through this amazing opportunity and I’m humbled and grateful to have the chance to serve. I’m sure that some of you are assuming this is a financially lucrative business but nothing could be further from the truth. I’m thankful to have a few publications who help with expenses, but many smaller newspapers have very lean budgets and just cannot afford to pay a freelancer. I trust the Lord just like you when it comes to God provision. We know the Almighty owns everything and is in total control! We are simply asking God to open the windows of anointing and favor so we can accomplish more for His kingdom and His glory. I pray and decree that many will receive the good news of God’s truth and that many seeds will be planted that will draw many to the Lord. I appreciate those of you who read the column in your own location but if I am not included in your local paper or if you do not subscribe, you are more than welcome to read them on this site every week. I am focused on presenting inspirational stories and Biblical insights that can build faith and encouragement and my desire is for everyone, everywhere to enjoy them. (I have just finished a current LIST of all the papers where I contribute and you can see it by clicking on the newspaper tab on the top menu). God works in mysterious ways and there is definitely a responsibility here to speak what HE wants to say instead of my own ideas. I feel that He is leading me to present a positive message of hope and peace and I know the Holy Spirit can use these messages to reach people in a special way that only He can. The Bible talks about plowing, planting, watering, and harvesting, and I am humbled to be used as a part of this spiritual process.
