WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE WE THINKING?

WHAT IN THE WORLD COVER

Do we really believe Jesus is who he said he was? Do we believe He can perform miracles today just like He did when He walked the earth? If there is no difference, then why do we not go to Him as our first option instead of our last resort?

29

Since we cannot see God, maybe this is why we sometimes consider that He cannot see us. If we really believed that He hears every word we say and is constantly aware of everyone and everything, it seems we would live differently. I think we would agree that if we knew a camera was following us around, we would be careful of what we say and do. This is related to the idea of having or developing an awareness that God is all around us all the time. Have you ever wondered why God does not stop bad things from happening? Have you ever thought that maybe He was busy and did not know about it? Or maybe He forgot, or maybe this was a part of His plan. There are questions that we humans have no answers for and in yet in these times of worry and doubt, this is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate faith. Is this easy? Of course not, and explains why it is so rare. Do we need a lot of it? It seems not since a mustard seed is so tiny. Faith means we are trusting God even though we cannot see the solution and do not understand what or why something is going wrong. If you have never jumped through the air and expected someone to catch you, you have missed a tiny glimpse of what it means to have childlike faith. I will conclude with the concept that we will be more likely to trust someone we know rather than someone we are not so sure about.

HOW BIG IS YOUR GOD?

181

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:26-27. “And God spoke all these words. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments” Exodus chapter 20:1-6.

The Hebrew meaning for the word God is Elohim which describes God as THE Divine creator, the Almighty and the fullness of divine majesty. Many accept the reality that God is a Spirit and no mortal has ever seen him, and thus He knew that if mankind tried to build images of what he thought God was, they would only be able to produce a copy of a human being. God has already created an image of Himself and has always known that man would try to build and worship images that would be an extension of his own identity. Since the ancient world, there have been many idols that have been created by man’s imagination. Some of these false gods are easy to identify but the idea of developing a personal concept of what a person “thinks” God should be is even more dangerous. Why? Well, it’s an obvious delusion when people declare that a purple unicorn is the ruler of the universe but the deception is more subtle when they try to change the God of the Bible into something other than He is. God is not the way we think He is – He is the way He is. The clay does not tell the Potter what to do, but rather the Potter molds and shapes the clay. ManKIND has always tried to create God in their own image which speaks volumes about our vulnerability to being led astray.

It’s actually very easy to pick out parts and pieces of the Bible and build our own comfortable philosophy without realizing what we have done. But we who are the remnant, the seekers of true reality, do not desire to worship a false image we can see with our eyes, but rather we desire to know the one true God and worship Him in the beauty of His holiness God is God no matter how you feel about Him or how much you believe in Him. He has never changed and will never change no matter how many philosophies are created by man, no matter how many denominations, creeds, doctrines, statements of faith or religious styles! God is perfect and precise – He creates in a big way and wants to do BIG things in your life. There are three very important attributes that separate ELOHIM from every other religion in the world.

195

1. He is Omnipotent – There is nothing that God cannot do. Elohim has unlimited power and unlimited authority. He created everything. No one created Him. He is all wisdom and knows everything. 2. He is Omniscient – which means HE is the only one who is all knowing. He was from the beginning and will be forever. He is Alpha and Omega. He constantly knows what everyone is thinking, saying and doing all at the same time. He knows what everyone is thinking and the number of hairs on everyone’s head and every time a sparrow falls to the ground. No other idol has ever been able to prophesy or know the future. 3. He is omnipresent – He is in heaven and on earth and everywhere all at once. He lives in you and goes everywhere you go and He does the same with me. He can help you in the middle of the night and be helping someone thousands of other people around the world all at the same time. Whenever you call on Him He will be there. God is the awesome almighty, the one and only God that knows you, loves you and wants you more than anything He has ever created. Holding up a marble, Let’s say this marble represents the size of the earth. To better understand the size comparison to our sun (which is actually a small star) we would need a container large enough to put 1 million marbles inside. Or another way to comprehend it would be the equivalent of approximately twenty 55 gallon drums of marbles. Amazing. All right, let’s use the marble again except this time it will represent our sun. To realize the size of our sun (or star) in comparison to the size of billions of larger stars in the universe, we would need to stretch a tape measure 20 feet that would calculate the distance across just of these large stars and then we could lay our marble at the 1-inch line. Stop and think about that for a moment. On a side note: To understand the contrast in distance from the earth to the moon and from the earth to Mars, it has been calculated using a quarter to represent the distance from the earth to the moon and the length of a football field from the earth to Mars. It’s difficult to understand how big the universe is because our tiny brain cannot grasp it. Jeremiah 33 and Genesis 22 mention the comparisons between the host of heaven (the stars) and the grains of sand on the seashore. We should be impressed. Before the invention of the modern telescope, it was possible to only see about 4000 stars, counting all that was visible from every point on earth. Many astronomers presumed that passages related to nature and creation like those verses in Jeremiah and Genesis were just exaggerations. However, with the technology of the Hubble telescope which is traveling deep into space and sending back new images of the universe, science now agrees with the Bible that there are truly as many stars as there are grains of sand.

How big is God? When there are billions of stars in each galaxy and there are billions of galaxies, we can only stand with our mouths gaping and our mind reeling. Even more fantastic is how the preciseness of the entire spectrum of creation is so perfect that for example, if the earth were any further from the sun we would freeze solid and if it was any further away we would literally burn up. If the earth were tilted at a different angle the earth would be chaos, not to mention the effects this would have on our gravity. Man reveals his foolishness when his ideas of evolution say that the distance between the earth and moon and the speed of earth’s rotation which effects our perfect gravity and the ocean’s tide, along with the atmosphere that provides the perfect amount of oxygen, and how the wondrous mechanics of the universe moves like precise clockwork and harmony is just by chance? It would take more faith to believe the sun rises and sets on its own than to believe God is in control of creation. When we read Isaiah chapter 40, we can see in verse 12 where the song, “He’s got the whole world in His hand” came from. Is this literal or symbolical? Do you believe God is big enough to hold the earth in His palm? The dictionary say’s a SPAN is the distance between the tip of the thumb and the tip of the little finger. Interesting. We can go over to the book of Job and see other similar indications that God just speaks and things appear. His words create and His power is greater than anyone has ever imagined.

The Booker Supercell

Here is something important for us to consider. It’s one thing to talk about what God can do when it comes to the universe, but if we accept in our spiritual worldview there is only one true God, and this Elohim is who He says He is, then is there anything He cannot do “IN OUR LIFE?” Isaiah 59:1 say’s, “Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” Of all the things God has ever created – He loves you most of all! You are His most valued treasure! Do you have visions and dreams in your life, prayers that you are looking for God to answer? We all do. Allow me to speak to you for a moment. If you feel that your need is too much for God to take care of, if you believe your problem is too big for God to handle, and if you think your enemy is too powerful, I just want to say YOUR GOD IS TOO SMALL! Elohim is more than enough for every person who has ever lived and will ever live. God is big enough to deliver you, wealthy enough to provide for you, powerful enough to heal you, strong enough to rescue you and loves you enough to give you EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE AND BEYOND EVERYTHING YOU COULD ASK OR IMAGINE. If something is not working in your life today, it’s not because God is not able. Maybe there are other reasons why you have not seen the manifestation you are waiting on. 1. Maybe you are preventing your own miracle. Is there something in your life that is holding back God’s blessings? 2. If you are interceding for someone else, maybe their lack of responsibility and obedience has locked the door to God’s miracle for them. 3.God may not be ready to do it – because HIS timing is crucial. Or He may be saying NO because He has other plans and reasons. Remember, He is the Potter. 4. Maybe He has called you to do something specific, and you do not want to do it. Examples …JONAH when he went to NINEVEH, The RICH YOUNG RULER, etc…Just because we doing something does not mean we are doing what God said to do.

There is NEVER a POWER SHORTAGE when it comes to God. He is not on vacation and He does not forget. If you feel that He is not paying attention, you are wrong. There are reasons why you have not received your miracle that only He knows, and we might not understand it until we are in heaven. We are called to follow and obey and live by faith. If we could see everything, we would not need faith. Trusting Him is a critical part of our relationship with Him and this is the way He designed it. Talk to Him and tell Him how you feel. Pray and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. For those who seek they will find and those who ask it shall be given. “Dear Lord, reveal to us our own failures and problems that we might see your glory. Help us to remove all limits of our vision of you. Open our eyes and help us to realize that you are a BIG GOD and that nothing is impossible with you. Help us to get out of the way and to allow you to do your work. Allow us to see YOU and ourselves the way you see us. Help us to be an instrument to work for you and not a barrier that hinders your will. Show us how to develop sensitive hearing that we might know your still small voice. Help us to be strong that we might be able to stand in times of doubt. Give us self-discipline that we might resist our flesh and cast down our carnality. Please give us more faith to believe and courage to step out in boldness for you. We need you desperately! Teach us patience, compassion, and generosity. We love you and in the holy name of Jesus we pray, amen”
